FAQs
Here are some answers to some frequently asked questions. It might help you decide whether I am the right counsellor for you.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions or book a free 20 minute consultation where we can talk about what you want to achieve from therapy.
What happens in counselling ?
Counselling is your space, and I’ll be guided by what you choose to bring. You can talk about whatever feels right for you, at your own pace. We’ll explore things in a focused but gentle way, looking at how you experience them, how they affect your life and where you might want to make changes.
How often are sessions?
Sessions are usually on a weekly basis, at the same time each week. However, if you are unable to make regular time every week I can offer a more flexible online schedule if this is achievable subject to diary constraints.
How long do they last?
Sessions last for 50 minutes.
What services do you offer?
I offer counselling, both in person (North London) and online. I can also offer telephone counselling if this is preferable.
What issues can counselling with you help with?
I work with adults on a variety of issues, such as anxiety, depression, stress, and relationship problems , bereavement and loss, challenges with significant life transitions, low self-esteem and more.
Will our sessions be confidential?
I adhere to the BACP ethical guidelines with regards to confidentiality. All counselling is confidential subject to the constraints of English law and ethical practice.
If you were to disclose matters involving a serious risk of harm to self or others, I may have to act on it. Where possible, I would not break confidence without your prior knowledge. I can discuss this further with you as part of the contracting process.
What if I can’t make the sessions?
If you can’t make a session, just let me know, by email or telephone and I will be happy to rearrange. Although, I can’t guarantee this will always be possible.
If you cancel a session with less that 24 hours’ notice, unfortunately I will ask for payment for that session.
How does counselling end?
If you feel like you want to end our therapy and decide you don’t want to continue that is completely fine. I always prefer a planned ending that allows time to review what you’ve achieved, look at your support networks and make sure you leave feeling safe. We can discuss what feels right for your ending in our sessions.
How much and how do I pay?
My online sessions cost £65 and in person sessions cost £70. I also offer a small amount of concessionary rates. We can talk about this in the consultation call.
Payment is due at the beginning of each session by bank transfer.
Where are you based?
I am based in North London (Bounds Green/Muswell Hill/Wood Green/Crouch End area). I also offer an online service so can see people from all over the country via this method.
